AI use

Last updated: June 2026

Who builds FolkUp

One person — Andrei — builds and maintains the FolkUp sites. He works alongside a team of AI assistants we call “AI fornits.” The work gets done by humans with machine help, not the other way around.

What “AI fornits” means

“Fornits” is Stephen King’s name for the spirit-helpers that live in writers’ typewriters. We borrowed it for the AI assistants that help research, write code, check facts, and draft translations. Think of them as named workshop apprentices — they have roles, they have voices, they help things get made. None of them has a chat window for you.

Where AI is used

AI helps research a topic before Andrei writes about it. It drafts code that Andrei reviews and fixes. It cross-checks facts. It produces translation drafts that a human revises. It runs accessibility and SEO checks. Every output a visitor will see passes through human review before it’s published. Nothing ships on autopilot.

Where AI is not used

No AI talks to you on these pages. There’s no chatbot, no AI-generated response to anything you type, no model running in the background while you read. The page you’re reading was assembled before you arrived and served as plain HTML.

Who’s accountable

Andrei Klemenchonok ([email protected]) is editorially responsible for everything published on FolkUp sites. The EU AI Act’s disclosure rule in Article 50 covers AI systems that interact with people directly. That’s not what’s happening here — these pages are written by a human, assisted by AI, reviewed by a human, and published as static text. Article 50(4) recognises that case.

If anything changes

If we ever ship something that involves AI talking to you directly — a chatbot, an AI-driven character, AI processing of your input — you’ll see a notice on that page itself. Not buried in a policy document. At the moment of the interaction.
